Hi Don,

Thanks for your comment. I asked Apple Developer Technical Support and they said that it is not possible to shut the Computer down from a sandboxed app. It is a pity, really!
Perhaps you can use hibernate mode, as I explained on the <a href="http://www.gugusoft.com/?page_id=98" title="Support" rel="nofollow">support page</a>.

I found now a way to shut down or restart the Mac using Hypnos. With version 5.2.1 you can again shut down or restart your Mac by putting two AppleScripts, one AppleScript tells the Finder to shut down and the other tells the Finder to restart, in the following directory: "~/Library/Application Scripts/com.GuguSoft.Berceuse/". If you do not see the "com.GuguSoft.Berceuse" folder, you have to launch Hypnos 5.2.1, which will create this folder automatically. Do not create a new folder manually in this directory and do not rename the two AppleScripts! Otherwise Hypnos can not shut down or restart your Mac.
Apple should review Hypnos 5.2.1 soon.

I appreciate your frank comment on the Mac App Store about the sandbox requirement disabling the ability to shut down the computer. This is something I use every night, so I didn't upgrade.
I think your software is great; is there a work-around (perhaps Appletalk) that will restore the functionality if I do upgrade?
Thanks, Don

Dear Mr. Ludwig Villiger

Here, I am writing to ask you to fix a problem of your application, Hypnos.
I purchased the Hypnos through AppStore on April 3rd 2012. The download and installation seemed to go fine but when I launched the Hypnos, the message following appeared and it would not start, "Hypnos is damaged and can't be opened. Delete Hypnos and download it again from the App Store".
I re-downloaded the software but the same message appeared.
According to the customer review of the Japanese App Store, another person has the same problem, so it is not my unique case.
I would like you to fix this problem as soon as possible. Your idea of this application is excellent, which I always wanted for the iTunes to have these features as default. I would be grateful if I could use Hypnos properly soon.

As for your information, I am using the MacBook Pro with OS X 10.6.8, 2.53 GHz Intel Core i5.

Best regards,
